Non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS) is a process in which a polymer is dissolved in a solvent to form a homogeneous solution. An extracting agent that is more miscible with the solvent is then added to extract the solvent, forming a two-phase structure where the polymer is the continuous phase and the solvent is the dispersed phase.
