11. Collaboration details and technical outcomes:
In 2016, the client (Ohappure) posed a cutting-edge technical challenge to Trustech: to develop a high-performance ultrafiltration (UF) hollow fiber separation membrane. The core idea was to co-composite two different formulations (e.g., PES and PSF) as the support layer and separation layer, thereby functionally modifying the membrane surface. The client aimed to achieve multiple superior properties with this innovative architecture: high flux under no or low driving pressure, high hydrophilicity to increase water flux and reduce protein adsorption, precise separation performance, and markedly enhanced anti-fouling capability and mechanical strength.
To meet this complex requirement, Trustech leveraged its deep expertise in composite spinning to design and manufacture a six-hole dual-layer composite spinning spinneret. The design ingeniously integrates dual material flow channels within a single spinneret unit, ensuring two polymer dopes (such as PES and PSF) are extruded precisely and stably in a concentric manner for co-forming. This solution not only realized the client's materials-innovation concept—delivering both the mechanical robustness of the support layer and the surface functionality of the separation layer—but also, through six-hole parallel spinning, significantly improved manufacturing efficiency, achieving an optimal balance of performance and throughput.
After the first batch of spinnerets was put into operation in 2016, their excellent quality and stable performance fully met expectations. The resulting bicomponent composite membranes exhibited outstanding performance metrics, bringing strong market competitiveness to the client's products. Building on this success, in 2017 and 2018 the client continued to procure NIPS- and TIPS-based hollow fiber membrane spinnerets from Trustech for different materials and process needs, recognizing Trustech as a trusted core partner in its R&D and industrialization journey. This long-term collaboration demonstrates that Trustech provides not only precision products, but also reliable solutions that enable customers to achieve technological breakthroughs and sustainable growth.
